About Hynes

Originally founded in 1952, Hynes has educated generations of students from the Lakeview and Greater Orleans Area as an open-admissions school. Hynes was converted to a Type 3 charter school in April 2006. In 2019, Hynes was replicated after thoughtful and intentional planning, and Hynes-UNO opened with a corporate partnership with the University of New Orleans where the school will be built. In 2021, Hynes was selected to operate its third campus, Hynes-Coghill at Parkview, located at 4617 Mirabeau Avenue, in Gentilly.
